What security threats does the COVID-19 outbreak pose?
Coronavirus poses threats for people, but this has a knock-on effect for wider society – and this affects the properties we live and work in. With much of the UK workforce being told to work from home or self-isolate, offices and commercial buildings are being left unattended. There’s also the issue of public-facing buildings such as bars and restaurants having to close, leaving them vacant too. As demand for goods increases, businesses like shops and supermarkets that do remain open could require a higher security presence.
Some people are abroad and not able to travel back to the UK following flight or transport cancellations – sadly, others might have to be treated in hospital, or might have travelled to be with family, leaving domestic properties vacant too.
